Guided Adventures - 2006
With Sugarloaf's Maine Guides
Sugarloaf is nestled in western Maine's majestic mountains, so naturally it makes for a beautiful place to have an outdoor adventure with a Registered Master Maine Guide. Spend the day hiking, biking, fly fishing, canoeing, moose watching or white water rafting. In the evening, return to unwind in deluxe mountainside accommodations.
Every day of the week means a different adventure at Sugarloaf, including a 4-star Wilderness Cookout, Twilight Moose Cruise, mountain hikes, fly fishing and fly casting lessons, mountain biking and flatwater canoeing. Most programs are offered based on demand, so please call ahead. For reservations or more information, please call 800-THE-LOAF.
Monday - 4-Star Wilderness Cookout
This trip begins with a short canoe paddle to a secluded wilderness site on a beautiful lake. You are free to enjoy the scenery and wildlife, take a walk or a paddle while your Maine Guide prepares a gourmet feast that you have to taste to believe. Suitable for novice to experienced canoeists. Estimated trip time is 5 to 6 hours. Number of people 5 to 10.
Tuesday - Burnt Mountain Hike
Climb with your Maine Guide to the 3600-foot high summit of Burnt Mountain. The ascent is gradual enough that it won't take your breath away -- a good thing, because the view from the top certainly will. We take our time, "smell the roses", and of course your Maine Guide brings a great lunch. A favorite for beginning and experienced hikers. Estimated time is 5 to 6 hours. Number of people 3 to 10.
Wednesday - Sunrise Canoe Trip
Inhale the magic of a day unfolding. After an introduction to canoeing basics for those who have never canoed, we paddle very slowly and without talking down a flatwater wilderness river. For experienced and non-experienced canoeist alike. Estimated time is 3 hours. Number of people 4 to 13.
Wednesday - Kennebec River Canoe Trip
We have been looking for a gentle and beautiful river to explore with guests who have been asking to go longer in their canoes. This is it! The trip includes instruction and a great packed lunch. For those who have never canoed, the Sunrise Canoe will give you the experience needed to make this all day trip. Number of people 6 to 13.
Wednesday - Twilight Moose Cruise
Although a sighting is never a guarantee, over the last four years our Moose Cruise Guides have only returned twice without seeing a moose. The evening starts with a short question and answer session at the Grand Summit Resort Hotel, then on to the shuttle to start your adventure! Be sure to bring your camera, binoculars and bug repellant because there is always a chance you will leave the comfort of the shuttle. Estimated time is 2 hours. Number of people 4 to 10.
